The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 urged those who are attending the Statio Orbis, or the closing Mass for the 51st International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) to come two hours ahead of the 4pm mass because security will be tight during the event.
The Statio Orbis, which will be officiated Papal legate Charles Maung Cardinal Bo, is expected to be attended by around one million people and the police would want to ensure that everyone will be safe during the event.
PRO 7 Director Chief Supt. Manuel Gaerlan said it will take time to check everyone before they can enter the Mass venue but the police will make sure that everybody will undergo the security checks before they will be allowed to get in.
That means the public should go to the South Road Properties at least two hours before the mass schedule. He said on Sunday they will fully deploy all security personnel, including the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and other force multipliers.
The police will also install more x-ray machines and machine operators and inspectors for the safety of mass goers.
Yesterday, thousands of delegates and members of the public were gathered infront of the Cebu Capitol Building for the Holy Mass scheduled at 4 p.m. The mass was to be followed by a solemn procession from the Capitol to Plaza Independencia. – CebuHeadlines.com
