The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 has destroyed at least P10-million worth of illegal drugs Wednesday based on the order from the court.
Among the illegal drugs destroyed through incineration were 2.5 kilograms of shabu, dried marijuana leaves and plants, 1,236 pieces of nubain ampules, and expired medicines.
The total cost of the drugs destroyed at the incineration facility of the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes was P10.059 million, according to data released by the PDEA 7.
PDEA 7 chief chemist Ma. Jonah Pinanonang said all the destroyed drugs were evidences in cases that have already been resolved. The destruction was covered by a court order issued by the Regional Trial Court.
The destruction was also witnessed by representatives from the court, the police, members of the media, the Public Attorney’s office, and personnel of pharmaceutical companies.
According to Ricardo Quinto, Deputy Director General for Operations of PDEA, the confiscation of the said illegal drugs could not have been successful without the efforts of the men and women of PDEA 7 and the cooperation of other law enforcement agency and the public. – CebuHeadlines.com
